Pre-Ballet 1(Recommended age 4-5)

Class begins with a review of the classroom etiquette and a few stretches to develop flexibility.  The dancers then proceed to the barre where they learn basic introductory exercises, to stand with good posture, and proper ballet terminology.  In the center, students begin learning basic arm positions and a few exercises concentrating on stretched knees and pointed feet. The next segment of class is traveling across the floor with different steps which teach musicality and co-ordination.  The class finishes with a free dance session. All dancers have the opportunity to perform in our Summer Concert in June.

Pre-Ballet 2 (Recommended age 5-6)

This level is a continuation of technique and knowledge that was learned in Pre-Ballet 1.  Dancers will develop their ability to focus for longer periods of time on proper technique and through the year, will add additional exercises to their vocabulary.  PRB believes in the importance of versatility in our dancers and with the introduction of tap class, the students will develop rhythm and co-ordination. Precise musicality and clarity of sounds are emphasized.  All dancers have the opportunity to perform in our Summer Concert in June.

Ballet 1A (Recommended age 6-8)

This class is designed to further the dancer’s technique in both the barre and center and to prepare them for the upcoming pre-professional division.  The students will become more responsible for the correct execution of each step and remembering the sequences of those steps as the year progresses. PRB believes in the importance of versatility in our dancers and with tap class the students will develop rhythm and co-ordination.  Precise musicality and clarity of sounds are emphasized.
